The planned renovation and expansion of Grundtvigs Hus Kollegiet is postponed for some months.

The 9th of September 2011 the project's requst for proposal took place. The tendered building prices were all far beyond the economiacal scope of this project - actually more than 50%.

For that reason the building work will not begin in October 2011 as planned.

Instead the project must go through an alteration and in December 2011 there will be a new request for proposals. The alteration will be decided in the building committee. The project's overriding idea will not be changed, however.

The building work will therefore not begin before the beginning of 2012 and the renovation of the existing block of flats will probably not begin before the spring of 2012. 

Architects, engineers and representatives attended the information meeting in order to inform about the building work and its possible inconveniences.

During the building of the new accommodations, the balconies and all the outdoor cover will be removed. In this period it will not be possible to use the main entrance.

What is going to happen with the present accommodations in brief:

• The rearmost exterior facade of the blocks will be eliminated
• The windows in the rooms will be removed and replaced by doors. In the building period these doors must be used to enter and leave the rooms. A scaffold will be erected so the residents on the first floor can leave their accommodations this way.
• The radiators under the windows will be removed to the left side of the wall so that they won't be in the new doors' way.
• A new insufflation of fresh air in the rooms will be made and the exhaust device in the kitchens and bathrooms will be refashioned.
• New plumbing installations will be made in the kitchens and bathrooms.
• All the blocks will be supplied with new roofs
• Terraces will be made in front of the new doors.

The new accommodations in brief:

• The building of the new accommodations will not begin before the renovation of the present accommodations is finished. The reason is that it is not possible to use the main entrance door in the present buildings during the building period.
• The new buildings will be erected on the slope in the grass areal.
• The buildings will contain 60 studio flats with their own kitchens and bathrooms.
